Toledo, Monday, June 24th

Toledo is just over an hour south of us. We went Monday after the kids were out of school so we didn´t have a lot of time to explore much of the city, but we did get some great pictures of the city and lots of souvenirs.

Toledo is known as the city of the three cultures since Christian, Islamic and Hebrew cultures coexisted during centuries within its walls.
The entrance to the old town through the Puerta de Bisagra built originally by the Moors and remodeled by Charles V in the 1500´s

Morgan doing what he does right inside the entrance.

Here is Kaiya walking by the shops.  Toledo specializes in blade manufacturing, so they were everywhere here.

I blame this on Morgan!

The kids getting a picture with Don Quixote.

This view is from the backside of the city.

This view is from the opposite side of the city.  The bridge is Roman built with a moorish gate tower on the right from the 10th centtury.   On the left outside of the picture, at the top of a hill, is the San Servando Castle built in the 14th centuray, but we were unable to get a good picture of it.  Up on the right is the Alcazar, a fortress that once was the imperial residence but was reconstructed after being mostly demolished during the Spanish Civil War of 1936

 THE END

I´m sure my mom and aunt were exhausted from this week, but we had a great time.  Apparently I didn´t get many pictures of them but I promise they were here.  I guess they were too busy shopping to pose for many pictures.  They left the following morning.

There are still at least 2000 more castles to see in Spain, ¿who is coming next?
